Storytelling, Countryside Events and Environmental Education

Every place has a story to tell...

..school grounds, park, village green, farm and field; all have secrets to reveal, populated by heroes and villains; sometimes real, sometimes imagined; always connected to elements of the natural world.

Jane Lambourne can bring these places alive in people’s imaginations through storytelling linked to local history, wildlife and folk tales.

Jane uses storytelling as part of an imaginative approach to deliver entertaining and educational experiences; from school projects and playschemes to guided walks and family events.

Her experience over fifteen years combines farming and countryside management with storytelling and environmental education.

Jane can be booked to:

Develop activities for countryside events
Work with schools on enrichment activities and
      creative projects
Design educational programmes for farms and nature reserves
Deliver storytelling performances for events
Deliver training on storytelling in the countryside

Much of Jane’s storytelling work is based around the familiar landscapes of her Bedfordshire home and surrounding counties, with recent projects linking to the Chiltern Hills, Greensand Ridge and woodlands of the Marston Vale.

What people said about Jane's work...

“The woodland looked magical with the lanterns and fire and we really enjoyed your wildlife stories, absolutely amazing. Your stories really set the atmosphere for the evening and were defiantly a highlight for many people.
We were so inspired by your story telling that we started talking about training.”
Bedfordshire Environmental Education Service Manager

Thank you so much for all your hard work and enthusiasm - the kids have loved your wonderful stories and you'll be missed next term.”
Year 3 teacher, Chepping View School, High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire

"Jane's stories along the Greensand Ridge Walk were a fantastic and different way to explain the history along the walk and  kept everyone, including the adults, enthralled."
Ivel & Ouse Countryside Project - Launch of Greensand Ridge Walk

"Thank you so much for  the wonderful storytelling on World Book Day. The children really enjoyed themselves and  can still remember the stories two weeks on"
Teacher , Southill Lower School, Bedfordshire

"It was a fantastic and magical event that had everyone captivated!"
The Greensand Trust - Masquerade, Ampthill Park

"Sat in an "enchanted wood" constructed on our village hall stage; the storyteller held children and adults alike enthralled at her tales. We had planned for a story every half hour to new groups of listeners each time. However, so popular was she that children wouldn't leave the wood and the storyteller was kept constantly busy. In this "high tech" world our children inhabit, it is wonderful that they can still enjoy the same as our late ancestors did, sitting with rapt attention to the story teller.
Jane is certainly the first person we asked back for our next year's village hall fayre."
Harlington Village Hall Committee

"We would like you to come along again as the Storyteller for Aragon Day as you did such so splendidly in July 2005".
Aragon Day Committee, Ampthill

"A very late thank you from all of us at St. Peter's! We all agreed that the children had a lovely time and were able to extend their knowledge and confidence in story-telling!"
