Examples of Jane's 2008 projects

An Autumn Adventure at St Mary's Old Church
Asked by the Greensand Trust to design a family event around this old abandoned church site, Jane lead children on "An Autumn Adventure", with treasure maps, stories, riddles and clues to discover some of the wildlife treasures of the area.

Celebrating the Trees of St Peter's School Grounds

For National Tree Week Jane
spent a day working with Key Stage 1 pupils at St Peter’s School, St Albans. Storytelling and workshop sessions were held to celebrate the trees in the school grounds and to inspire and encourage the children in their own storytelling skills. Storytelling took place outside with follow up workshops in the classroom. Jane told stories for each of the different trees that the children play under every day which  included a specially commissioned tale for the school "The Ten Tall Trees of St Peter's School".

Community Woodland Projects in The Forest of Marston Vale
New community woodlands, Shocott Spring and Rectory Wood were created by the Marston Vale Trust between 2005-8.
At picnic events in the summer Jane and her colleague ran flag and banner making workshops. To end the day's activities Jane, gave a storytelling performance alongside percussionist Chris Puleston. For more information about Chris's drum workshops click here

Later in the year Jane was asked to work with Cotton End and Shortstown Lower Schools to promote a feeling of ownership for Shocott Spring. Jane ran tree-themed storytelling activities in the schools, including a traditional tale adapted to focus on the tree species planted in the wood. Images from this story were collected and given to a tree sculptor - Ian Freemantle, who created a magnificent bench depicting the story. The bench is located within Shocott Spring for the children to enjoy, rediscovering the story within their wood. Click here for more Information about Shocott Spring.

Between September 2007 and March 2008, Jane was employed by the Wildlife Trust to write and deliver a primary school education programme at Paxton Pits Nature Reserve, Huntingdonshire; a cross-curricular, child-centred learning adventure - "Wild Journeys of People and Wildlife".
